Yesterday during the freezing rain (joys) we went out to my friends girlfriends house to put on our BRAND NEW winter tires.

Thank god.

Driving on these "bologna" skins (thank you for that terminology 505turbeux) was becoming....uh interesting. The handling was unpredictable and hard to control. Now we can pass the moose test again.

Kinja'd!!!

The fronts were way way worse than the rears, which actually had maybe 4/32s left. The fronts (pictured) had about 1/32.

Yeah. I left it too long for sure. The handling difference on the new tires was night and day.

They make slicks with almost no tread so that it is DOT legal.

I got caught in a freak snow in Halifax a few years ago (15 cm) with some "bologna skins" on my Tiburon. It was a white knuckle drive home that day. Ever since then I put my winters on in mid October. I don't want to try that again.

That....sounds miserable. I wasn;t trying to push it, but financial problems were kicking my ass.

It was pretty crappy, thats forsure. I remember in High School, there was a guy who's parents bought him a brandnew Mustang GT convertable and he had it at school when a snow storm started. It was left there for 2 days before he could get it out. Imagine RWD with bald tires... that sounds like a crap drive. And with that much power and no grip, sketchy for sure.

Money is the worst... when you need it you don't have it. When you have it, you don't need to buy anything.
